As the number of older adults in Cuyahoga County swells, it is vital to promote educational and training opportunities for professionals and paraprofessionals engaged in direct care of this special population. One of the most critical unmet needs is access to proper oral health care. To this end, The McGregor Foundation has established a significant relationship with the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine to develop curriculum that reflects the needs of older adults. The CWRU Dental Van program, awarded a $40,000 grant in November 2017, allows Dental students and faculty members to provide on-site oral health care to low-income seniors in the community. Students gain experience delivering clinical services with unique needs, and older adults have access to top quality oral health care.
